Influence of Negative Sequence Injection Strategies on Faulted Phase Selector Performance

Renewable power is expected to increase drastically in the coming years due energy transition. A large part of newly installed generators will be connected system through inverters and electronic converters, whose behaviour differs from synchronously network. One main differences current contribution during symmetrical asymmetrical faults which can affect protection systems. New grid codes establish requirements for fast injection, but converter’s maximum limitations make it difficult control strategies such contribution. This paper studies performance faulted phase selector algorithm a commercial relay under renewables before unbalanced faults. Two positive negative sequence injection compliance with new Spanish code are proposed tested fault conditions HiL (Hardware Loop).
